Netflix tips 1.0
When you’re one of my Instagram followers you might know I love Netflix. I have a huge list of series and movies I have seen and an my ‘to watch’-list is even longer. The fact that I like so many different kind of movies (except for horror) doesn’t make my list any shorter.. If you are in any doubt what to watch next, keep reading!
The movies and series on Netflix you can see can be different per location and country so it might be that one or more of the names I write are not available in your country. By the way, this is not a collaboration or anything. I am just a huge Netflix fan ever since I made an account seven(!!) years ago. Also my January started with me telling myself to watch a bit more documentaries so these will also be on the list.
Yes, movies! However I love series, I often think it is so nice and a bit less addicting to watch a movie. With some series, I’m just watching them to get over with it. And a movie is done in 1-3 hours. Ok, here we goooo..
The first movie I ALWAYS tell everyone is Colombiana. From 2011 but I love the movie and have seen it three times I think. The main character is just really tough and I think she’s so cool. As a young girl, Cataleya sees her parents being slaughtered and manages to find her way to her uncle in America. She grows up becoming a murderer with one goal: revenge. It’s a movie with a lot of tension and action, I love it.
The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind (2019)
Movies based on a true story always have a special vibe I think. With every bad or amazing thing that happens you’re thinking ‘wow, this really happened’. This movie is one of those. A 13-year old kid in Malawi saves his village by being a self-taught engineer. He builds a wind turbine which results in the ability to water the crops and save the villagers from death. There’s not much actions but it’s a beautiful movie with an amazing story.
The Red Sea Diving Resort (2019)
Another movie which is inspired on true stories. A team of secret agents open up a fake hotel in Sudan to bring thousands of Ethiopian refugees safely to Israel. This thriller has some humor in it, which is always good!
The Irishman (2019)
Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci. Need I say more? Ok, maybe I need to say that this is based on the stories told by Frank Sheeran and tells a story about non-fictional characters from the 1950s. It shows a world of violence and drama of some notorious gangster figures of those times. Again this movie is not full of action but it’s been filmed and acted very good. Sketches a great image of those times and people. Oh, you’ll need to gave a lot of time though. This movie takes 3,5 hours!!

Ask me for some series and I’ll tell a bunch of them in 3 seconds. In all genres and for different ages. I’ll try to stick with the ones that are not immensely popular like Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries (which I, obviously, have seen too). Here they come!
The Rain (2019)
A Scandinavian movie, so of course after living in Norway for two years it’s a must-see. A deadly virus ‘rains’ on earth and only few can survive. The series follows a brother and sister who are trying to survive a new, crazy world full of dangers created by a virus. This series are constantly exciting!
The Alienist (2018)
Ok. Maybe I do have a preference for strange stories.. This psychological thriller tells a story of a criminal psychologist who tries to catch a serial killer. The victims are mainly street kids and boy prostitutes. Yep, a weird story but I can extremely recommend this one.
Night On Earth (2020)
This mini serie of animal during the night have such amazing shots. New techniques have made it possible to film animals in the dark with warmth sensors. As I am super interested in wildlife, these episodes are so cool to see.
What If (2019)
A couple with some money issues are trying to solve these. They need to find a source of money to save the girls’ company. Then they meet an investor, an infamous woman. She asks for just one thing: a night with the guy and they’ll get all the money they need to invest in the girls’ company. After agreeing on the terms everything changes. Secrets make everything complicated. Another strange, though exciting story! I cannot wait for the second season.
